Prey screenshots from 1996
The first 20 screenshots were released during the Weekly Updates that were going on from February to June 1996.
The next 12 screenshots were included in the Duke Nukem 3D v1.3d CD. Together with the screenshots was a file called PREYINFO.TXT with contacts for aspiring developers.
The next 4 screenshots are scans from the May 1996 PC Gamer article.
The next 8 screenshots are from a 1998 issue of Joystick that for some reason showed the iteration that was abandoned two years before.
All subsequent screenshots were either released by 3DRealms directly, or by other sites previewing Prey.
They all show the evolution of Tom Hall's version until its end, progressing from 8-bit 320x200 unaccelerated graphics to 16-bit 640x480 accelerated graphics with bilinear filtering.
